Have you ever wanted to look through someone's Bible and see what notes they have? Do you have great notes in your Bible that you want to share with others? This is the site to do BOTH!
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God... There is a lot going on behind that little three letter word "God." It literally means "self-sufficent one." Which means, all that is required to exist, exists within Himself.
ReplyDeleteI require water, food, shelter, etc... therefore I am not God!
For more interesting things going on behind the names of God please read The Names of God.
Gen 1:3 God said, "Let there be light." But the sun and the moon are not made until the fourth day in verse 14. So what light is verse 3 talking about? Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." Could there be a connection there? What do you think?
ReplyDeleteGen 2:24 "...the two are united into one." The Hebrew word translated as "one" is "echad." It means "a composite one." One that is made up of more than one. The same word is used in Deut 6:4 "...the LORD is one." Sounds very trinitarian to me.
ReplyDeleteThe opposite of echad is adulturate. It means "two or more things combined that corrupt each other." We get our word "adultery" from this word.
Gen 3:15 He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.
ReplyDeleteThe First Announcement that a Messiah is coming!
The concept that the Messiah will be hurt a little but in return will conquer satan completely.
The rest of this Book is exactly about the fulfillment of this passage.
Gen 1:26 Let "us" make people in "our" image...
ReplyDeleteWho is "us" and "our"? I think it is the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit having the conversation. Another O.T. allowance for the N.T. revelation of One God revealed to us in three persons.
What do you think?
Gen 3:7 ...suddenly felt shame...
ReplyDeleteWhen Adam and Eve felt shame they tried to cover it up with fig leaves. Later in vs. 21 God demonstrates to them that in order to cover their shame correctly, something needs to die. He made them clothing from animals.
I wonder if God just showed up with the new clothes or whether He brought out a live animal and killed it in front of them and then made the clothes in front of them. Curious.
Gen 3:22 ...the tree of life?
ReplyDeleteThere were two trees in the Garden of Eden that are named. Adam was told not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The Tree of Life therefore was available to eat from.
The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil is never heard of again, but the Tree of Life reappears in The Revelation in the Kingdom of God.
